Youth Mentor
Kailo Avelar, better known as Kai, was raised their whole life in Cicero. They’re a recent graduate of Morton East and a freshman at Morton College, majoring in public health. They started their journey at Corazon as a health ambassador over the summer of 2022 and is now a Youth Mentor.
Their goal is to learn as much as they can about the beautiful community they grew up in to help it grow and prosper, and they believe that the Cicero youth is the key to that. They gain new knowledge and experiences working hand in hand with everyone on the Corazon team. Their goal is to create a safe and inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome regardless of ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, or socioeconomic status.
In their spare time, they enjoy watching movies and playing video games. They like to keep up with current events and are passionate about music.
