Born and raised in Chicago, Monique has dedicated her life to the service of others. She was influenced by her parents to volunteer her time, effort, or other God-given gifts she was called to give. She is a graduate of Northwestern University, Mitchell-Hamline College of Law and a career Assistant Public Defender. She believes in education and safe spaces for young people, as she knows that her success was due to these things being a factor in her life.
She serves on the Board of the Studios at 18th and Wabash, a residential building that provides affordable housing to low-income people, and is a committee member for the Sixth Municipal District Mock Trial Competition, which provides high school students the opportunity to compete in trial team competitions statewide. She enjoys cooking, reading, cycling, travel and knitting and has a fondness for animals.
