• The After School BLAST Program serves children ages 6-11. We need volunteers to help with literacy projects, reading circles, and projects. Our young people struggle with learning English and need as much support as we can provide. Is this where you connect? We want to provide our young people with as much educational support as possible including more intensive one-on-one or small group tutoring. Do you remember your Jr. High math? How about the U.S. Constitution? Maybe your high school days were your best subject areas.
At Corazón we provide you with a rich, multi-dimensional social work experience; from community organizing, to case management, group work, macro-level and micro-level projects to individual and family counseling opportunities. This experience is not for all. You must have a desire to work with youth, be comfortable working with people of color, possess a high level of motivation, be open to learning and have a consistent schedule to complete your internship hours. Because our community is over 85% Latino, being able to speak Spanish is certainly highly recommended, although not an absolute must. Think you have what it takes?
